BIODIVERSITY PROJECT

wood-design, houtinfobois, vlaanderen circulair, bos+, flanders DC

Our objective is twofold:
1. There is a direct result because we will design objects that serve as habitats or feeding grounds and
we will attract a certain biodiversity with these prodcts.
2. There is an indirect result, an awareness role; introducing a wider public to the biodiversity values of dead wood,
pointing out the importance and requirements of different types of dead wood: different tree species, different dimensions, lying and standing dead wood, but also the importance of old, decaying, hollow trees. Municipalities are encouraged to provide space for trees that are allowed to grow old and to plant new trees so that dead wood (the right habitat/nutrient soil for certain species) will be available in the very long term.
Working with residual streams also raises awareness about the importance of a circular economy.

The natural cycle can close again.
