LCM

light composition modulator

Architectural lighting collection in a standalone, flexible & serene form.
These objects provide a diversity of functionality and adaptability for different spaces and needs.

this challenge is part of a larger collection ongoing with Brent Neve in the research collective Utilise.objects.
LCM2 is a modern interpretation of architectural lighting from the early days of modernism.
Bringing this authentic vision into a contemporary framework is the goal where people regain control over their spatial environments.
No imposed guidelines, no plans, no limitations, ... interpret the armature as you wish.

The design consists of an aluminium cylinder with a diameter of 6cm and a height of 1m85.
With a simple rotation, you can create different functions and ambiances in the space you want.
So as an end user you can choose an evening setting or a reading mood by also playing with the depth of the light source you get yet other dimensional effects.
Between the extreme positions of the luminaire, you have a wide playing field of interaction between colour, light & reflection.

The mechanical challenge was in collaboration with the designteam of Studio Need I.O
